GDPR Information FAQ

Data Administrator:  VirtualTweakers

What information is collected (names, email addresses etc…), and what you do with it when it is processed?

We don’t collect PII information other than basic Google Analytics, which in it’s basic form is GDPR compliant.  We do use Slimstat to see which countries visitors come from, and which pages are viewed, but we mask IP addresses, so we don’t have any idea who our users are other than where they are generally from and what articles on our site they visit, and for roughly how long they stay.  None of this information contains personally identifiable information on our users.

Why you collect the data; why is it necessary for your site to have this data?

We like to know where readers are and what they choose to read so that we can better tailor our content to them and make things more relevant.  We like to serve our readers, and without some information, we have no idea if what we create is helping others.

We use Google Analytics for more powerful metrics and for Google Ads, but you can opt out of that by not allowing cookies to be set on your browser from the pop up on our site.

We may use Facebook to build custom audiences if we run advertising to reach other people who might benefit from what we offer.  This is something you can opt out of as well in the cookie denial on the pop up.

How you store the data and keep it safe and protected?

We store cookies for a random amount of time depending on our server space and load.  Generally not longer than a month.  This data is only available via the Slimstat interface and only tells us very basic usage and country data.  Again, nothing that can identify any of our readers personally.

Who you share the information with?

We don’t share our data.  Google Analytics and the Facebook cookie may on their end, but you can opt out of both by not allowing VirtualTweakers to set browser cookies.

VirtualTweakers does not store any personally identifiable data other than cookies.  In the unlikely event of a data breach, K.R., as controller, will alert the proper authorities as specified under the GDPR.
